The Wellness Project by Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation

is a three-part project for health and healing guided by science, medical, and natural health experts that is accessible to people of all financial means who seek support in natural healing strategies.

Our team of professionals have expertise in areas ranging from chronic illness, cancer, Lyme disease, gut health issues, and autoimmune diseases, to sleep disorders, addiction, and mood disorders.

What makes this work unique is our mission to honor the legacy of our namesake, Weston A. Price: collaborating with indigenous communities around the world to showcase natural health and healing approaches for today's health challenges.

These programs will continue to highlight the research validating indigenous wisdom, combined with science as a way to support healing in modern times.

People Just Like You Inspired Us

This story begins with Karen, a client shared by Dr. Judy Mikovits and Heather Dane. Karen was just diagnosed with cancer. Single, in her early fifties, and with little-to-no savings, she was not sure how to proceed.

The truth is, she felt lost.

We brought her into our program, one that was started by Dr. Judy Mikovits and Dr. Frank Ruscetti, two well-respected immunologists from the National Cancer Institute. They began consulting with patients diagnosed with challenging health conditions for free, as they gathered data for their natural healing protocols. Nutritionist Heather Dane joined them. Together, they attended Karen’s oncology appointments, reviewed her test results, talked to her doctors and strategized about next steps.

The goal:

To prime the body for health and healing, even if a medical intervention like chemotherapy or radiation are needed. Protocols are tailored and involve regulating the immune system and strengthening the body with natural foods, supplements and lifestyle habits.

There were some unexpected benefits. Karen, and countless other patients like her who found their way into this program, experienced an incredibly healing side effect: they felt surrounded by a family of practitioners who had their back. No one asked for money. Natural products were often given free or at wholesale prices. Karen, echoing the statements of other patients, said that half of her success in going through her treatment was this feeling of support and “family.”

She told us it felt like love

Because of her experience, she began to support others on their healing journey. Each person in the program, in fact, began to pay this support forward.

It was during this time that Louise Hay passed away. In the days following her death, Heather Dane tells us she began watching Louise’s old videos. The one that caught her attention was the documentary, Doors Opening.

Having heard Louise speak about the Hayrides and her early work in AIDS, and attending Louise’s Hayride reunion, Heather told us that this film was particularly touching to revisit.

Here’s what Heather shares about these programs:

“Within the first week of Louise passing, I found myself waking up in the middle of the night for two nights in a row with the word “Well” running through my head.

In my dream, the word Well was surrounded by words like: I am; you are; we are; and Louise’s All is Well.”

I saw well-ness and well-being. This word was not new to me. It was the word I heard every patient use when they felt ill or received a diagnosis: “I just want to be well.”

It became clear to me that it was time to make good on a vision I’d shared with Louise years ago: to provide programs – including low-cost or free programs -- to people in need, so that everyone could have a chance to heal. To be well.

"At the end of 2017, I went to the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation to share my vision. With their long-standing mission of helping people heal, along with their admiration of Louise’s legacy, they joined in the vision and we agreed to create these programs together.

We have a three-part project that is designed to capture people’s minds and hearts, inspiring them to heal and, more importantly, to support them on their journey to being well. At the same time, indigenous populations are already reaching out to me, confirming the need for this work as their communities experience physical and mental/emotional illness at rates sometimes exceeding three times those of the general population.

In 2018, we are dedicating our efforts, programming and relationships with top medical and natural health professionals to create innovative healing projects, indigenous medicine wisdom, and a trusted family of qualified professionals to support people in achieving wellness.”

Studies Show Communities Contribute to Healing and Longevity

Studies show that just sharing a trauma with others increases the ability to heal by 35%. Additional studies have found that community and relationships matter when it comes to health and healing.

An 80-Year Harvard Study Found:

  • Good relationships keep people happier and healthier
  • Social connections to community matter for good health
  • Loneliness and isolation can lead to a decline in happiness, brain health and longevity
  • Quality and caring relationships matter
  • The people who fared best were those who leaned in to community

In Okinawa, one of the Blue Zones, where people live longer and healthier than other areas of the world, there’s a concept of moai (pronounced Mo-Eye). These are small groups or communities who are trusted supporters who have one another’s backs through good times and bad. These moais are believed to be a key contributor for their health and longevity.

We’ve noticed the same thing as we got started with this work. It is our mission to create a strong, healthy community of support as one of the natural “medicines” in your healing journey.
